Chi Onwurah MP Visits Thomas Bewick School

On Friday, Chi Onwurah, Labour MP for Newcastle Central and West, visited Thomas Bewick School Site 1. Chi participated in a tour of the site, led by Headteacher Katy Harrison, and Assistant Headteacher Sarah McNeill. She saw the school's therapeutic learning provision in practice including rebound therapy, sensory circuits and the sensory swimming pool, gaining insight into how the school meets pupil's SEND needs.

Afterwards, she met with Katy to discuss wider SEND issues in Newcastle, particularly surrounding proposed SEND reforms and the growing demand for specialist school places.
