Thomas Bewick School Staff and Community Take Part in the Great North Run
Return to Latest News
On Sunday 10th September, Thomas Bewick School staff members, alongside their family and friends, took to the roads of Tyne and Wear to complete the Great North Run. We would like to extend a big congratulations to our staff and the members of the TBS community who took part.
Many of our staff and community ran on behalf of the Friends of Thomas Bewick School charity, which aims to advance the education and wellbeing of our TBS pupils through funding resources and sensory equipment. This money raised through the runners’ hard work and determination will go a long way in improving the learning environment of pupils throughout the school.
Runners who participated in the race for Friends of Thomas Bewick School shared their photos below. These include Thomas Bewick School Teacher Ellis Toward, AK Teaching Consultant Lewis Lynch, as well as members of the Thomas Bewick School community Anna Barnes, Peter Stockton, Karin Younger, Kate Thompson, and Headteacher Daley Barber-Allan’s brother Dudley and friend Ben.
A special mention and well done to our staff members who competed for other charities, including Gary Rutherford (dressed as a dinosaur in the photo below), Anna Burton-Cole, Claire Widmer, Aisling Robinson, and Carly Jones.
Staff members also lined the course of the Great North Run to encourage and cheer on all the runners. Wendy Jackson, TBS Admin Assistant, caught a great photo below of Mo Farah running his last professional race.
Finally, a big thank you to Tots to Teams, our uniform providers, for their donation of the printed Friends of Thomas Bewick School t-shirts for the runners.
