Daleby House Residential: Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award and Independence Skills.
Return to Latest News
As part of their Duke of Edinburgh award the pupils get a fantastic opportunity to visit Daleby House in Beadnell. During this trip, the pupils have to take part in two separate expeditions across three days and two nights at Daleby. They had some wonderful walks along Beadnell Bay and from Seahouses to Bamburgh along the beach, gathering some excellent map reading skills but also a lot of memories along the way.
The weather was perfect across the three days and all of the pupils were a credit to themselves and represented the school wonderfully as always. The chip shop supper was well deserved on the second night. At Daleby they combined, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions alongside building their independence skills as part of their ASDAN courses. As the trip is fully self catering, the pupils are in charge of budgeting, shopping for items, cleaning the house, washing the dishes, cooking the meals.. It was a fantastic trip that prepares them for their life after Thomas Bewick.
