Hello everyone.

My name is Judith Gibson and have recently been employed through The Great North Children's hospital as an Autism Specialist Nurse. As part of my new role I am basing myself at Thomas Bewick School one day a week.

I work alongside Community Paediatrians, Speech, Occupational, Physiotherapists, 0-19 service as well as multi agency working within Education and Voluntary sector.

I am currently setting up school clinics where I can assess the needs of your child/young person and action/signpost needs as appropriate. Some children will be known to GNCH, others will not. I am working through a list of your children that are currently known.

If you need initial advice/support around autism health needs, please access this through your child's teacher where I can screen and meet you at a clinic appointment.

As this role develops, I intend providing education sessions for parents/carers on topics which are relevant to you all. I envisage sleep being near the top if the list!

I will also meet you at the school’s coffee mornings where you can come and have an informal chat.

I am so looking forward to meeting you all and hope to bridge a gap in services for your child.

Best Wishes
