Dear parents, carers and friends,

I wish you a warm welcome to the summer term from myself and the Thomas Bewick team (I only wish the weather was also warmer and more summery for us all at the moment!)

I would especially like to welcome our new starters and their families. We have 11 new children in school this term at our Broadwood site, they have made a positive start and settled in well. I can hardly believe we are in the summer term already, it seems such a short while ago that we had our Ofsted inspection at the beginning of the academic year in September 2023.

I am proud to be the new acting Headteacher here at Thomas Bewick. I know the school well and have played a part in our journey of school improvement for the past five years. Our Ofsted report (September 2023) talked positively about our high aspirations for all pupils, that pupils are nurtured and enjoy coming to school, that our curriculum is broad and ambitious and that we build positive relationships with our wider school community. I am excited about working with you all to maintain and build on our success and achievements.

Building and maintaining a successful school takes a collective effort and I feel very privileged to be supported by parents and carers, our Local Advisory Committee members, the Prosper central team, our amazingly skilled staff team and, most importantly, our wonderful pupils. I would like to extend my thanks to everyone within the Thomas Bewick School community, as well as those external professionals and agencies, that support what we do.

The summer term is set to be a busy one. There are some key dates and events shared below for your diaries. We look forward to seeing as many of you in school as possible. In the meantime please do not hesitate to contact us at school if you have any queries at all.

With best wishes from myself and the team,

Katy
