The School Day

Many of our pupils and students travel to and from school on dedicated transport organised by the Newcastle SEND Transport team, whilst some are brought into school and collected by parents or carers.

Minibuses, taxis and some parents and carers arriving by car are allocated a parking space within the school grounds, however space within the school grounds is limited due to the high number of vehicles accessing and leaving our sites at these times. For this reason some parents and carers arriving by car will be asked to park outside the school grounds. There are always school staff on duty and visible during drop off and pick up times to assist during these busy periods of the school day. School staff will be wearing high visibility jackets so they are easy to spot.

When pupils and students arrive at school they will wait to be greeted and collected by school staff who will then supervise their safe and supportive transition into school. Similarly, at the end of the school day pupils will be escorted outside to their dedicated transport, parents or carers by school staff who will ensure a safe handover. Parents and carers are required to wait with their children at all times until they are collected by school staff.

During drop off and pick up times, all vehicles parked within the school grounds at all of our sites are required to remain stationary with the ignition switched off. School staff on duty will signal to parked vehicles when it is safe to move.
